1600s-1838: Cherokee, Chickamaugan and Creek presence in the Chattanooga region
1817: Brainerd Misson created as Indian School
1819: Hamilton County chartered by the Tennessee General Assembly; Extends only to the north side of the Tennessee River
1839: Chattanooga chartered by Tennessee General Assembly
1861-1865: U. S. Civil War; General U. S. Grant arrived in Chattanooga on 23 October, 1863 to command Union forces for the Battles of Chattanooga
1863: Battle of Missionary Ridge, 25 November; 12,000+ casualties
1867: Worst flood in Chattanooga history
1887: Street Cars traveled to Missionary Ridge
1891: Pleasant Garden Cemetery established, one of the first black cemeteries in TN
1900’s: John T. Shepherd operates the 160-acre Hill Glen Dairy Shepherd farmhouse built at 100 Ridgeside Road
1906: Ed Johnson buried at Pleasant Grove Cemetery
1911: Concrete road construction on the Ridge started
1912: Fletcher Morgan leased dairy farmland in this area called Hill Glen Dairy
1913: Tunnel at Brainerd Road built

1922: Paul W. Shepherd, John’s son, begins work on Shepherd Hill Subdivision
1922: Shepherd Hills Subdivision Addition #1 (Ridgeside Road)
1923-1929: Missionary Ridge was a city before being annexed by City of Chattanooga
1925: Crescent Park Subdivision
1925: City of Ridgeside Chartered
1926: Model Home built at 103 Ridgeside, development marketing in newspapers
1926: Shepherd Hills Subdivision Addition #2 (Hilldale Road)
1927: Shepherd Hills Subdivision Addition #3 (Note: there is no Addition #4)
1927: Shepherd Hills Subdivision Addition #5
1928: Shepherd Hills Subdivision Addition #6
1929-1932: Stock Market Crash
1929-1931: Shepherd Hills resists annexation push by Chattanooga
1929: Shepherd Hills Golf Club formed (mini golf)
1929: Tennis Courts opened
1931: Shepherd Hills incorporates as City of Ridgeside
1938: Missionary Ridge Baptist Church dedicated
1938: Missionary Ridge Tunnel caved in
1939-1945: World War II; 660 Hamilton County members of the U. S. Armed Forces die in ‘action’
1942: Annual June Picnic tradition begins
1950’s: Community Club and Candle lighting started (estimated)
1950: Shepherd Hills Pool opens
1952: Shepherd Hills became Hamilton County's 67th voting precinct
1953: Shepherd Hills Subdivision Addition #7
1954: Shepherd Hills subdivision is completed
1958: Actor Jim Nabors, aka Gomer Pyle, lived at 110 Hilldale

1986: Homecoming ’86 Celebration

1987: Ridgeside Pool Renovation
1993: Ridgeside Dolphins Swim team formed after being a part of Chattanooga Country Club
1998: Christmas Open House during Candlelight night started
2001: New City Sewer Installed
2015: Ridgeside 90th Anniversary Party
2018: New Street Lighting
2018: Pool Renovation and new pavilions added
2018: New Ridgeside Entrance Sign added at Windmere at Tunnel Blvd.
2019: Singer Lionel Richie Visits Pleasant View Cemetery to visit family gravesite
2020: Ridgeside Stream community presentation with Waterways
2021: Native Plants introduced to the Ridgeside Park
2022: Pickle Ball Courts added
2023: Enlarged Community Room Complete to increase voting area
